| Benefits:
By adding a solar hot water system to your home, you will reduce the intake of electric power from your power company. This will reduce your monthly bill. Depending upon the local rate structure and the size of the system, the reduction will vary from 20% to 25% or more. More importantly, you will make an important contribution to the environment. Solar electricity is valuable to our future in many different ways.
- Free Energy From the Sun
- Reduce Utility Bill
- Environmentally Friendly
- Provide hot water if Utility Power Fails

How It Works
Cold water is pumped via insulated copper or PEX tubing by a small circulating pump from the water storage tank which is typically located in the garage to the solar panel mounted on the roof. As the cold water passes through the solar panel it is heated by the sun. The warm water then returns to the storage tank and is ready for use in the home or office. The circulating pump is either activated by the differential thermostat or by a small solar electric module.
Type of Systems
The most commonly used residential solar hot water systems in Florida are the Direct Open Loop and Drainback type systems.
